Sleepy – by Tom Snively

My composition “Sleepy” was composed in 1991 at Penn State for a jazz combo class. It was performed with a quintet with me on alto sax, and others on trumpet, piano, bass and drums. The title refers to the state of the average college student.

It is a simple modal minor piece. It has 8 measures of D Dorian, 4 measures of C Dorian, and 4 measures of D Dorian.

On this recording, I play the trumpet and alto sax parts, both on the alto sax.
